Meeting of Switzerland County Ex-Soliders.

A number of ex-soldiers met at the Court House last Saturday afternoon for the purpose of perfecting arrangements to attend the Soldiers’ Reunion to be held at Indianapolis next Thursday and Friday, Oct. 14th and 15th.

The meeting was called to order by Wm. R. Johnston, Co. A., 3d Cavalry.

On motion, Capt. Percy Rous, Co. E, 50th Infantry, was elected President of the meeting, and W. J. Baird, Co. C, 54th Infantry, Secretary.

Upon taking the Chair, Capt. Rous, in a neat and appropriate speech, stated the object of the meeting.

A committee was appointed to ascertain who would attend the reunion. The reported the names of the following persons:

  • Isaac M. Smith, Co. B, 140th Infantry
  • J. M. Manford, Co. B, 140th Infantry

  • George Kyle, Co. D, 18th Infantry
  • Dr. R. R. Ruther, Co. D, 18th Infantry
  • W. Chase, Co. D, 18th Infantry
  • Wm. Platt, Co. E, 50th Infantry
  • J. D. Davis, Co. C, 63d Infantry
  • F. J. Hollcroft, Co. E, 146th Infantry
  • J. C. Long, Co. A, 3d Calvary
  • J. D. Works, Co. D, 10th Calvary
  • William Cole, Co. F, 22d Infantry
  • Oliver Cole, Co. F, 22d Infantry
  • Geo. H. Redd, Co. F, 22d Infantry
  • John H. Murphy, Co. M, 3d Calvary
  • N. H. Morrison, Co. D, 3d Calvary
  • Capt. Percy Rous, Co. E, 50th Inf
  • Rev. J. J. Goodner, Co. A, 3d Cav

The following persons were elected officers to take charge of the Company while at Indianapolis:

  • John D. Works, Captain
  • John G. Long, 1st Lieutenant
  • Isaac M. Smith, 2d Lieutenant
  • J. M. Manford, Orderly Sergeant
  • Committee on Transportation—J. C. Long, J. D. Works, and William R. Johnston.

It was decided to start for Madison Wednesday evening, leaving Madison Thursday on the morning train.

On motion, the editors of the Vevay papers were requested to publish the proceedings of the meeting.
