VEVAY. The seat of justice for Switzerland county, is an incorporated city of 2000 inhabitants, located about 100 miles south of Indianapolis and 75 below Cincinnati, on the Ohio river, in the midst of a good agricultural district. The place is a flourishing condition, having no bonded debt, and is supplied with good county buildings, substantial business blocks, six churches, excellent graded and select schools, four hotels and a national bank. The press is represented by two weekly newspapers, the Reveille (Republican), and the Democrat. Its manufacturing interests are as yet undeveloped, consisting of a woolen mill, chair factory, flour mill, furniture factory and two saw mills, but owing to its cheap transportation advantages Vevay is destined to become at no distant day a manufacturing place of considerable importance. It has daily stage communication with Liberty Station, Ky., its nearest rail approach. Express, Adams. Mail daily, Alfred Shaw, postmaster.
