Ohio and Switzerland Agricultural Society Awarding Committees – 1852

Appointments for awarding committees for the Ohio County and Switzerland County, Indiana District Agricultural Society appeared in:
Ohio Valley Gazette – 16 Sep 1852 – Page 2, Column 4.

At a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Ohio and Switzerland District Agricultural Society held at Allensville, on the 11th Sept. 1852, a majority of the Directors being present, Hon. John Hall, (Ex-officio) Pres’t. called to order.

On motion it was voted that the following named persons be invited to address the Society, at Rising Sun, at the Annual Fair: Hon. John Dumont, Rev. Mr. Morris, Rev. Mr. Bonham, and Rev. Wm. Johnson, of Aurora.

The Directors then proceeded to the appointment of awarding Committees, to award the premiums offered by the Society, — when the following committees were appointed, to wit:

On the best Cultivated and arranged Farm.
Colin McNutt, David Henry, John Hunter, A. C. Pepper and Uziel H. Stow.

On Horses Mules, Jacks and Jennys.
Joshua Haynes, Moses Green, James Brown, Joseph Malin, and Cleveland Scott, of Ky.

On Cattle, Sheep, and Hogs.
Benjamin Dennis, Isaac Philips, Wm. H. Powell, Geo. A. Jackson, and Cleveland Scott, of Ky.

On Grain, Grass, and Root Crops.
B. B. Loring, Samuel Porter, Uziel H. Stowe, Spencer French, and Wm. Stewart.

On Fruits, Butter, Cheese, & Honey.
John I. French, Daniel K. Harris, Harvey Littlefield, Joseph Stewart and Eliphalet Case.

On Domestic Manufactures:
Ulysses P. Schenck, Wm. Stewart, Jacob Powell, Mrs. Caroline Henry, Mr. Sarah Hall, Mrs. Wm. Stewart, Mrs. Jane P. Pepper.

On Poultry.
Wm. H. Powell, Wm. Gillespie, Hazlet E. Dodd.

On Mechanical Productions.
Solomon Washer, David Richmond, John Jacobs, John Latham, and Hazlett E. Dodd.

On Ploughing Match.
