Court convened Monday morning. For grand jurymen Wm. H. Madison, at his request, was excused, and Charles Lantz, not in the county. Alfred Shaw and John D. Pavey were appointed to fill the vacancies. With these exceptions, the grand jury was as announced last week.

For petit jurymen John K. Lewis and Isaac Richards were excused at their own request. Daniel Melick and Merit H. Banta were appointed to fill the vacancies. With these exceptions, the petit jury was as announced last week.

State vs. John Moore, Sr., and John More, Jr., keeping gaming room. Moore, Jr., plead guilty and was fined $10. Nolle prossed as to Moore, sr.

Carroll S. Tandy vs. Samuel Stewart and others. Foreclosure; judgment for $1,260.80.

First National Bank of Vevay vs. James H. Merit and others. On note; judgment for $332.

Kansas Hollcroft vs. Joseph E. Hart. On note; judgment for $257.

Samuel Adkinson vs. Isaac McKay and others. Foreclosure; judgment for $67.40.

State vs. Simon Peter Cooper. Murder; change of venue to Jefferson county.

The case of Sheriff of Switzerland county on the relation of James V. Anderson vs. Charles J. Dufour, a civil case for possession of property, is now on trial.

The Wainscott—Phoenix Insurance Co. of Brooklyn case, was before Judge Berkshire Tuesday, but on account of the absence of a witness, David Brownfield, (in Tennessee) the case was continued until next week in January.

Judge Friedley will resume Court next Monday.
