The following is a synopsis of business transacted at the June Term of the County Commissioners:

ROADS.

Petition for location of highway in Pleasant Township, by Michael Cole, D. L. Drury, and others. David Henry, W. H. White and John B. Gordon were appointed viewers.

Petition for private road in Posey Township, by S. Stevens, and others. Samuel Stewart, Salem Pocock and Stephen Hicks, were appointed viewers.

Petition to re-locate part of Vevay and Florence road, by Julius McMakin and others. W. J. Keeny, J. P. Stewart and Daniel McCreary were appointed viewers.

Petition for change of highway in Posey Township, by W. J. Keeney and others. Viewers reported and road ordered to be opened thirty feet wide.

Petition to locate road crossing the mouth of Indian Creek. J. P. Stewart, W. J. Keeney and Daniel McCreary were appointed viewers.

Petition for private road, by Wm. Hastie and others. Viewers reported and road ordered to be opened.

SCHOOL FUND.

We learn from the report of the Treasurer that he has $33,000 of School funds now loaned out on mortgage.

PHYSCIANS FOR THE POOR.

The following persons were appointed Physicians for the poor:

  • York—C. T. McKibben
  • Posey—W. A. Alcott
  • Cotton—J. P. Butz
  • Pleasant—W. C. Sweezy
  • Craig—J. W. Thompson

ROAD ASSESSORS.

David Cain, Joel D. Davis and David Henry, freeholders of the county, one of whom reside in each of the several Commissioners Districts were appointed Assessors of benefits to lands, under the act “authorizing the assessment of lands for plank, McCadamized and gravel road purposes,” etc.

AUDITOR’S REPORT.

The Auditor presented his annual report, which we publish in fill in another column.

BOARD OF EQUALIZATION.

The Board of Equalization of the Appraisement of Real Estate made but few changes in the appraisement.

ORDERS REDEEMED.

We learn from the Treasurers report that the redeemed orders to the amount of $31,113.52 during the three months ending May 31, 1869.

CONSTABLE APPOINTED.

Mr. W. H. Stevens was appointed a Constable for York Township.

Commissioner’s Court.

Among other business transacted at the recent term of the Commissioners of this county, was the following:

Mr. William Cunningham was qualified and took his seat as Commissioner from the Second District, vice Jacob R. Harris, whose term of office has expired.

Wm. Hully, of Pleasant Township, presented a petition for a private road passing through the land of Mr. Lewis Rodgers. David Henry, Charles Ryan and John Archer, were appointed viewers, and will report at the next term.

In the matter of the petition for a road in Pleasant Township, by Michael Cole, D. L. Drury, and others. Viewers reported favorable, and the road granted.

Mr. Geo. H. Kyle, of Vevay, was granted a license to retail intoxicating liquors for one year.

In the matter of petition to relocate part of the Vevay and Florence road, by Julius McMakin, Joseph Bosaw, and others. Report of Viewers unfavorable, and the matter dismissed.

In the matter of the petition to relocate road and bridge at the mouth of Indian Creek, by J. D. Lamson, and others; ordered that the road be granted, to be laid out thirty feet wide.

In the matter of the petition by Stephen Stevens, and others, for private road in Posey Township, Edward M. Cheever, Wm. Stewart and Henry Wallick, were appointed reviewers.

The Treasurer redeemed County Orders, during the last quarter, ending August 31, 1869, to the amount of $1,529.37.

A number of orders were allowed.

The Pauper expense, including that of the Poor House, during the three months ending Sept. 1, was $827.05.
