COUNTY BUSINESS.

Among other business transacted by the County Commissioners at their last session was the following:

George W. Cole was appointed appraiser for third Commissioners District to succeed James H. Hatch, deceased.

In the matter of construction of the free gravel roads in York Township, Chales McVey, contractor for construction, presented a written assignment transferring his contract to Joseph D. Froman, Uly G. Trafelet, John E. Williams, Charles Kiesel, Joseph E. Hart, William Tait, and Frank Rosenberger, who will complete the roads. Accepted and approved.

John Bennett and others petitioned for location and vacation of highway in Posey Township. The said road will pass along, upon and over the roads of Phoebe Houze, Benjamin C. McIntire and Job E. Stevenson. Elmer E. Hufford, John Peak and John Parker were appointed viewers. They will meet at office of J. T. Bodkin, in Patriot, Monday, Sept. 25th.

Fees reported collected by County during quarter ending Sept. 4:

  • Recorder, $143.52.
  • Sheriff, $207.97
  • Clerk, $269.48

Martin G. Keeney resigned as engineer of Pleasant Township Roads, and Wm. H. McKay was appointed to fill the vacancy.

Orson A. Potter was appointed County Assessor to succeed Robert B. Littlefield, deceased.

The Cotton Township free gravel roads were let to R. B. Lawson for $13,176.00—he being the lowest and only bidder.
