Vevay and Moorefield Turnpike Subscribers – Aug 1867

Vevay and Moorefield Turnpike.

Enough money has been subscribed for the building of this road to make its completion beyond a doubt. The distance is about eight miles, and it is estimated that when completed it will cost about $14,000.

The citizens of this place, and farmers living along the route of the proposed road, are under obligations to Capt. Harvey Myers and Robert A. Knox for their untiring exertions in soliciting subscriptions and otherwise working for the success of the road. Mr. Myers has spent about four months time in working for it, besides spending about $50 for traveling expenses. The enterprise originated with him, and from the start he has known no such word as fail, and he will not fail.
