AURORA

The largest city in Dearborn county, with 5,000 inhabitants, is located on the Ohio river in the township of Center. It is incorporated and is 4 miles west of Lawrenceburg, the county seat, and 26 miles west of Cincinnati on the B. & O. S. W., C., C., C. & St. L. and C., L. & A. (electric) railroads. Situated in the heart of all a splendid farming section, it is the acknowledged trade center for the country patronage of two counties. There are two flourishing banks, two live newspapers and six churches of the leading religious denominations. The schools are unexcelled by those of any town of its size in the state. There are a large number of important manufacturing establishments the chief products of which are buggies, chairs, wheels, castings, machinery, tools, caskets, furniture, monuments, cooperage, lumber, flour, etc. The principal shipments are hay, grain and tobacco. The city boasts unexcelled water and sewage systems and electric lighting and gas plants; has miles of concrete sidewalks and all the principal streets are paved with brick. Exp., Wells, Fargo & Co. Tel, W. U. Edward Maloney, postmaster.
